The Problem:
How do we find sustainable energy sources which are pollution free and environmentally friendly?
The Insight:
What if electricity was a waste product that we could re-use instead of a precious resource that produces waste?
The Idea:
Plant Power! Plants actually produce electricity as waste. It is essentially a by-product of photosynthesis. Several teams of scientists are working on different techniques for leveraging this plant power.(For the scientist amongst you…organic matter ends up in the soil after photosynthesis where naturally occurring bacteria break down the matter and release electrons in the process. These electrons are then “harvested” to produce electricity.)
